Our Directors Message
As Director for Catholic Charities Housing Services of the Diocese of Yakima I welcome you to review the information contained on our website and encourage you to use this information for your personal benefit or to make referrals to those you believe can be assisted by our services. Our Mission Statement is “Motivated by Christ’s love, we bring hope to life, especially for those most in need.” This is the full focus of what motivates us to serve the people of Central Washington with housing services that offer decent, affordable shelter supported by education and services.
Catholic Charities Housing Services (CCHS) is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization established in 1998 by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Yakima to help meet the need for safe, affordable and decent shelter for people in need in the Diocese of Yakima. Our service area is the seven central Counties of Washington including Yakima, Klickitat, Kittitas, Benton, Grant, Chelan and Douglas Counties.
Working with local entities including city government, grassroots partners and local parishes, CCHS provides agricultural worker rental, senior rental and home ownership housing opportunities to low income residents in our target area. Each day we serve 1,230 persons with housing services and to date, have developed 265 housing units in nine communities worth $32 million in real estate assets. Current, new housing development efforts include 165 units of senior, agricultural worker and home ownership housing in five communities valued at over $25 million. CCHS “enriches” all housing it develops with client education, services and empowerment activities that give people an opportunity to help themselves and others.
