Catholic Family & Child Service: fifty
years young--and counting.
Services offered today may yet
support the earliest adoptive and foster families and individuals aided by the Wenatchee agency. Current programs such as mental health counseling, kinship caregivers for families in crisis, seasonal daycare, and Volunteer Chore Services for elders reach across the age spectrum, from the very young to senior citizens.
Child Service has grown and matured as surely as hundreds of children in its care have done.
Now decades later Catholic Family &
hope it is) in the lives of scores of infants and children who found homes and families in the agency's first decade, when the primary services were adoptive home placements, foster home placements, and care of unwed mothers.
Fifty years is a lifetime (at least we
yesterday that the Catholic Family & Child Service was a newborn agency in downtown Wenatchee, but a "birth commencement" in local newspapers confirm it was launched in August 1956.
